Catching up over a cup of tea recently with Vero Beach, Florida artist, author, illustrator and animated films producer Camy De Mario, the versatile, creative force announced she is offering virtual children’s art classes on Zoom in collaboration with Sherri Divband, founder of the Aramis Creative Learning Center. Parents of aspiring student artists can sign them up for De Mario’s upcomingclasses at the following links:
De Mario was born in Milan, Italy and moved to the United States in 1995. Later, as a young adult, living on a small island of the Abacos, Bahamas, De Mario rediscovered her early childhood talent and enthusiasm for storytelling and manifesting cartoon characters. After publishing her first children’s book The World of Happy, Let’s All Be Friends, De Mario has authored and illustrated more books and expanded her storytelling outlets to include videos, short animated films, and fine art. Through all of her mediums, De Mario strives to share uplifting messages of love, unity, hope, and acceptance with young children. (Parents/adults can be impacted by her heartfelt works as well). De Mario’s children’s art classes encourage and offer an opportunity for children to express their feelings and emotions through art.

GetShotByElla.com creator Ella Chabot exhibited two paintings in the Art by the Sea Fine Arts & Crafts Exhibition, one of the most anticipated shows of the Vero Beach, Florida Art season. Chabot’s artworks on display included Honeymoon in Italy, View from the Beach, acrylic, and Roof Terrace View, South, Strait of Messina, framed acrylic.
The exhibition was located in the Holmes Great Hall, Vero Beach Museum of Art, 3001 Riverside Park Drive, Vero Beach, FL. The exhibition days and times were the following: Friday, January 7th, 2022 – 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm; Saturday, January 8th, 2022 – 10:00 am- 4:00 pm; and Sunday, January 9th, 2022 – 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.

“Inspired Impressions of Indian River Citrus” acrylic painting by Ella Chabot, creator of GetShotByElla.com, was on exhibit at the Intergenerational Recreation Center, 1590 9th Street SW, Vero Beach, FL, through January 26, 2022. Chabot’s fine art was shown through the Cultural Council of IRC’s Art In Public Places program.
The Vero Beach Museum of Art, in coordination with the Cultural Council of IRC’s Art In Public Places program, accepted two folk artwork submissions by Ella Chabot, creator of GetShotByElla.com, to coincide with the “American Perspectives: Stories from the American Folk Art Museum Collection.” The two artworks by Chabot are entitled “Tree of Life, Recycled” and “Pink Flamingo, Golden Beak.” These are both 3-D works.
Exhibition showed: Oct. 27 – Nov. 28, 2021.

Straight from New York City, renowned tribute king Lamar Peters performed during the “Salute to Our Veterans” event at The Italian American Civic Association of Vero Beach, 1600 25th Street, Vero Beach, FL on October 23, 2021. Show tickets were $25 per person with reservations required. The event benefited the homeless women veterans’ housing project of the Veterans of Indian River County, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Doors opened at 4 pm with a cash bar. Showtime was 7 pm in the Tee’s Bella Italia Ballroom. A selection of four food choices was available for purchase at $12.00 each, including fried shrimp, fried fish, sausage, pepper, and onion sub, and eggplant parmesan sub. Beverages were for sale in the club bar during the event.
Peters was “the first Elvis tribute artist to perform at B.B. King Blues Club in Times Square in New York City on Aug 17, 2013. He has toured with the Heart of the King Ambassadors Show Production and has placed top 3 in the Ultimate Elvis Presley tribute contest sponsored by Elvis Presley Enterprises,” according to his website https://www.lamarpetersshow.com/
In addition to his Elvis tribute performance, Peters entertained with a mix of country music, Tom Jones, Michael Bublé, oldies and more.

Arte dell’ Orchidea, a fine art exhibition and auction, was held Saturday, October 9 and Sunday October 10 at The Italian American Civic Association (IACA), 1600 25th Street, Vero Beach, Florida, with a portion of proceeds benefiting the organization’s high school scholarship fund. Event sponsors included Hometown News, Florida Eye Institute, Panera Bread, Carrabba’s and FlHomes of ExP Realty LLC .
Doors opened art and a silent auction began, 5-7 pm, Saturday, October 9. A ticketed dinner started at 7 pm ($25 per person). Musician Kenny Clarke performed during the dinner event. Clarke is a jazz organist and pianist, who plays a wide variety of genres from Latin and Blues to American Songbook. He performs regularly at the Grind + Grape, Vero Beach, FL.
Two events were scheduled on Sunday, October 10: 2-4 pm a family art rvrny with food provided by Panera Bread, an activity painting the vibrant houses of Positano located on Italy’s Amalfi Coast, a video presentation was given by children’s author and illustrator Camy De Mario, and fine artist Cynthia Colella painted on location outside the IACA building; 5-8 pm an artist reception and the final day of the silent art auction was held. An Italian pasta dinner was available for $8.00, and beverages were for sale in the club bar. The silent art auction winners were announced at 7 pm on Sunday.
With the theme “From the Amalfi Coast to the Treasure Coast,” Arte dell’ Orchidea featured artworks in three categories: Treasure Coast of Florida locations and coastal art, Italian scenes, and the Italian American heritage. Each featured artist created one piece of artwork for the silent art auction during the event, with proceeds from the silent art auction benefiting the IACA’s local high school scholarship fund.
Ella Chabot, creator of GetShotByElla.com, was one of five artists with works showcased in the exhibition. Other exhibiting artists included Judy Burgarella, Camy De Mario, Lynn DiMenna, and Cynthia Colella. Additionally, the exhibit spotlighted the IACA’s permanent art collection of paintings by the late Vero Beach artist Alyce Spinosa, composed of Italian scenes including Mount Etna, Sicily; the Bay of Naples; Venice; Pompeii; The Castle Sant’ Angelo, Rome; and Marina Adriatica, Abruzzi.
Judy Burgarella’s fine art encompasses painting, drawing and sculpting, utilizing an array of mediums. Portraiture is her preferred genre, though she is also extremely skilled at landscapes, seascapes, still life and animals. A professional fine artist and teacher for over 20 years, she has exhibited in numerous solo and group shows.
Camy De Mario is a fine artist, author, illustrator, and screenwriter, giving voice in her creations to unique characters as well as manifesting bright, colorful imaginative artworks. Born in Milan, Italy before relocating to the US in 1995, De Mario’s children’s book and animated short film The World I Want To See is selected by and a finalist in several international film festivals. Lynn DiMenna is an accomplished portrait artist acclaimed for her true to life images created in oil pastel. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree at Dunbarton College of the Holy Cross with a major in Applied Art. With an extensive career in music and radio, DiMenna is also a gifted singer and performer.
Cynthia Colella is a contemporary impressionist, whose landscape and wildlife oil paintings are created outdoors in the landscape. Her work focuses on documenting and preserving Florida’s natural habitats, agricultural and ranching history. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting from the University of Miami and has worked as a professional fine artist and teacher for over 20 years. Highlights of her extensive juried museum and gallery exhibitions include the Lowe Art Museum, Coral Gables, and The Hortt, Museum of Art, Fort Lauderdale.
Ella Chabot is a multi-media fine artist and photographer, also creating with recycled materials. The first “Artist Spotlight” featured by visitindianriver.com in April 2021, Chabot exhibited internationally for the first time in November 2019 at International Print and Artworks on Paper, Euskalduna Palace, Bilbao, Spain.
Participating as a guest artist in the Arte dell’ Orchidea silent art auction was fine artist Daniela Zaharia, who donated her painting “Mystic lake,” acrylic on canvas to the event. “I love to create paintings that tell a story both to me and to others about the world and the people around us,” says Zaharia.
The IACA Board of directors with club president Tom Aspromonte collaborated with IACA member and past officer Marta Bertoldo, Realtor with Exp Realty LLC in Vero Beach along with IACA member and artist Chabot on this event to benefit the club’s local high school scholarship program..
Fine art by Ella Chabot, creator of GetShotByElla.com, was on display in the Artist Choice Exhibit @ County Administration Building A, 1801 27th Street., Vero Beach, FL through September 29, 2021. Pictured is a partial view of Essence, a mixed media painting on canvas by Chabot, one of two of her works featured. A second work that exhibited is entitled Sally’s Place, Late Afternoon, Central Beach, Vero, acrylic on canvas.

The Faces of Eve, A Tribute to the Power of Women in Community art book, featuring the art photography of Niurka Barroso and tributes to women in the Indian River County Florida community, past and present, authored by Lu French, with Neli Santamarina and The Faces of Eve Collaborative, will benefit the Gifford Cultural Center, 2880 45th Street, Vero Beach, FL.
On April 30, 2021, during the closing reception for artist Pamela Gordinier’s exhibition From Social Injustice to Justice – An Artist’s Perspective at Raw Space, 1795 Old Dixie Hwy, Vero Beach, FL, it was announced that funding is required to complete this book’s publication successfully. Four levels of book sponsorship are available and gifts are appreciated.
